🚨ACTION ITEMS🚨

🚨Time to Hit Where It Hurts – Let’s Get Strategic to Kill the Farm Bill 🚨

Here's the truth: Troxler has plainly stated he will not back down on raw milk.

🎯 OUR PLAN: STEP 3 – STARTING NOW

✅ STEP 3: Flood the Inboxes of the House Agriculture and Environment Committee in YOUR OWN WORDS. Visit them in Raleigh if you can (and don’t forget to swing by the Senators offices and tell them to KILL the Farm Bill).

1) CALL, EMAIL, and Direct communication on social media to the Senior Chair and Chairs of the House Agriculture and Environment Committee. VISIT them in Raleigh if you can. Make it clear we do NOT want this Bill to pass:

•📧 mailto: Jimmy.Dixon@ncleg.gov

•📞 919-715-3021

🧑‍💼 Chair Representative Karl Gillespie

•📧 mailto: Karl.Gillespie@ncleg.gov

•📞 919-733-5859

🧑‍💼 Chair Representative Howard Penny

•📧 mailto: Howard.Penny@ncleg.gov

•📞 919-715-3015

Talking Points:

•The 2025 Farm Bill (S639) is anti-farmer, anti-health, and anti-freedom.

•It kills pet milk sales and other vital microdairy revenue streams.

•It protects chemical companies (like ChemChina!)— AT THE EXPENSE of the farmers.

•It gives the NC Dept. of Ag dangerous police-state authority over family farms.

•This will be Troxler’s legacy unless he helps KILL THE BILL.

•Tell him: There’s too much wrong. It’s NOT fixable. The only option is to PULL IT.

CONTINUE to flood the Inboxes of Troxler and the main sponsors of the Bill:

✅ Contact Commissioner Steve Troxler DIRECTLY

📧 Email: mailto:Steve.Troxler@ncagr.gov

📞 Phone: (919) 707-3000 ext. 0

(Leave a voicemail if you don’t get through!)

If we show them the public backlash—and make it politically toxic—they’ll think twice.

🧑‍💼 Senator Brent Jackson

•📧 mailto:Brent.Jackson@ncleg.gov

•📞 (919) 733-5705

🧑‍💼 Senator Norman Sanderson

•📧 mailto:Norman.Sanderson@ncleg.gov

•📞 (919) 733-5706

🧑‍💼 Senator Lisa Barnes

•📧 mailto:Lisa.Barnes@ncleg.gov

Let’s show them that we’re organized, we’re loud, and we are not going away.

Let’s defend real food, real farmers, and real freedom.

More soon—stay ready, stay loud.

May 16, 2025 -

Yesterday they pulled SB639 from the full Senate vote because they didn't have the votes.  It is now in the Rules Committee and we don't yet know when it will be voted on.

We need to keep making our voices heard, educating people, and sharing this petition.

🚨ACTION ITEMS🚨
🚨Time to Hit Where It Hurts – Let’s Get Strategic to Kill the Farm Bill 🚨

We’ve received some important intel: Steve Troxler is highly conscious of his legacy, his reputation, and the public’s perception of him. He wants to go down in the books as the guy who built agriculture in North Carolina—not the one who crushed small farms under government overreach.
But here's the truth: Troxler has plainly stated he will not back down on raw milk.
So, if we want even a chance at winning this fight, we need to be strategic—and hit them where it hurts: their legacy, their public image, and the mission-driven organizations they care about.

🎯 OUR PLAN: STEPS 1–3 – STARTING NOW

✅ STEP 1: Contact Commissioner Steve Troxler DIRECTLY
📧 Email: mailto:Steve.Troxler@ncagr.gov
📞 Phone: (919) 707-3000 ext. 0
(Leave a voicemail if you don’t get through!)

•This will be Troxler’s legacy unless he helps KILL THE BILL.

•Tell him: There’s too much wrong. It’s NOT fixable. The only option is to PULL IT.

✅ STEP 2: Pressure the Organizations Troxler Cares About
Troxler sits on the boards of organizations whose missions are directly violated by this Bill. Let’s show them the hypocrisy and ask them to demand Troxler withdraw his support.
📍 NC Rural Economic Development Center

•💬 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ncruralcenter

•📧
•Patrick Woodie, CEO – mailto:pwoodie@ncruralcenter.org

•Carolyn Rhodes, COO – mailto:crhodes@ncruralcenter.org

•Dalton Bailey, Data Manager – mailto:dbailey@ncruralcenter.org

Talking Points:
•Troxler’s support of the Farm Bill violates your mission to support rural economies.

•It bans the sale of pet milk and cuts off microdairy income across NC.

•It threatens rural development by criminalizing small-scale food freedom.

•Ask your board member, Steve Troxler, to stop backing this dangerous bill.

📍 NC Foundation for Soil and Water Conservation
•📞 (919) 510-4599

•💬 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ncsoilwater

•📧 mailto:Info@ncsoilwater.org

Talking Points:
•Section 19 of the Farm Bill removes liability from pesticide and chemical manufacturers, putting soil and water health at risk.

•This is totally counter to your mission to protect NC's natural resources.

•Ask Commissioner Troxler, your board member, to remove his support and protect the environment AND farmers.

✅ STEP 3: Flood the Inboxes of the Bill’s Lead Sponsors
If we show them the public backlash—and make it politically toxic—they’ll think twice.
🧑‍💼 Senator Brent Jackson
•📧 mailto:Brent.Jackson@ncleg.gov
•📞 (919) 733-5705

🧑‍💼 Senator Norman Sanderson

🧑‍💼 Senator Lisa Barnes
•📧 mailto:Lisa.Barnes@ncleg.gov
•📞 (919) 715-3030

Talking Points:
•The Farm Bill is a trainwreck for farmers.

•It expands government power and kills rural income streams.

•It protects chemical corporations while harming farmers and rural NC HEALTH, leaving them with NO RECOURSE .

•The public is watching—and we will remember who stood up and who sold us out.

•Kill the bill. It is NOT fixable.

Let’s show them that we’re organized, we’re loud, and we are not going away.

Update! 5/15/25

Come Voice Support for our 🐄 🥛 Farmers and show your support by wearing 💚GREEN 💚!

The full NC Senate will address SB 639 North Carolina Farm Act of 2025
at 10:30 am in their Chamber in the Legislative Building.

Hear if they continue on the path of potentially putting a slew of microdairies out of business across our state by attempting to strike raw pet milk from current law.

Pet milk is essential to animal rehabbers, animal rescues, pet owners that use a raw diet, and at times is the SINGLE ONLY food an animal
can handle that is at their end of life or having significant digestive issues.

***COME IN PERSON**** to the Senate Chamber at 10:30 am tomorrow.  Arrive early.

Parking info for the North Carolina General Assembly, Legislative Building at 16 West Jones Street, Raleigh, NC 27601 can be found here:

You can listen live here: https://www.ncleg.gov/Audio/Senate

This is urgent. The fight for real food continues in North Carolina, and your voice is making a difference.

Earlier this week, a dangerous bill (SB639) threatened to make all raw milk—including herd shares and pet milk—completely illegal in North Carolina. Thanks to your efforts, we’ve made progress—but the battle isn’t over yet.

The Latest:

GOOD NEWS
On May 7, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to continue herd share agreements and to conduct a study on raw milk. This is a huge win. Your calls, emails, and signatures made an impact—lawmakers heard us loud and clear.

BAD NEWS
Just as we were celebrating, an amendment was added that bans the sale of pet milk—a move that strips farmers of one of the few legal avenues still available.

Now, SB639 heads to the Senate Finance Committee and then to the full Senate floor for a final vote. All votes must take place by Thursday, though exact timing is unknown.

What You Can Do Right Now:

Step 1: Call and Email the Senate Finance Committee Chairs Before 1 PM Tomorrow (May 8)

Ask them to remove the pet milk ban from SB639.

  • Senator David Craven (R)
    David.Craven@ncleg.gov

  • Senator Tom McInnis (R)
    Tom.McInnis@ncleg.gov

Tell them:

  • Raw milk is safe when properly labeled.

  • Farmers should be allowed to sell it.

  • Consumers should be allowed to choose it.

Step 2: Contact Other Key Legislators

Reach out to these lawmakers and urge them to oppose any effort to ban raw milk, herd shares, or pet milk in North Carolina.

  • State Representative
    Jeff McNeely
    919-733-5661
    jeffrey.mcneely@ncleg.gov

  • Agricultural Commissioner
    Steve Troxler
    919-707-3000
    steve.troxler@ncagr.gov

  • Senators & Bill Sponsors:
    Lisa Barnes – Lisa.Barnes@ncleg.gov
    Norman Sanderson – Norman.Sanderson@ncleg.gov
    Brent Jackson – Brent.Jackson@ncleg.gov

Step 3: Sign the Petition

We need as many signatures as possible. It only takes a few seconds.
[Click here to sign the petition.]

Step 4: Keep Spreading the Word

Forward this update to your friends, families, and customer lists. Every voice counts.

Background & Talking Points

Use these in your calls, emails, and conversations:

  1. The ban in SB639 would harm small family farms, cutting off a vital source of income and customer connection.

  2. It would limit consumer freedom to choose what’s best for their families.

  3. It would reduce local food availability and send food dollars out of North Carolina.

  4. Raw milk has a long tradition of safe, informed use among educated consumers.

  5. This is a step backward for food freedom in America. We must stand up now.

Sample Email to Lawmakers:

Dear Members of the Senate Finance Committee,

I urge you to oppose the raw milk ban included in SB639, particularly the amendment targeting pet milk.

This legislation would severely impact small family farms and remove the right of consumers to make informed choices about their food. Raw milk is a nourishing, time-honored food that many North Carolinians value deeply.

Adults deserve the right to evaluate risks and make their own food decisions. Please stand for freedom, for transparency, and for the viability of small farms.

I respectfully ask that you remove the raw milk ban from the Farm Act.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

We are being heard—let’s keep going.
This is a pivotal moment for food freedom in North Carolina and beyond. Let’s finish strong.

Food and healthy living has always been our thing. We have a strong passion for real food, in its purist form. Food that nourishes and heals the body.

Our parents grew up on farms, going out to milk the cow before school was a normal part of life just one generation ago. I heard their stories of farm life growing up and I wanted that life for my own family someday. For fun I would watch farming, back to the land type of documentaries with the kids as they were growing up. It’s not a shock to me that they have also developed a passion for real food that nourishes the body instead of causing harm. Our kids have been raised from the start to know where their food comes from, and it’s not a surprise to us that they are working towards farming as a lifestyle and way to provide for their future families.

After nearly two decades of reading, watching and being educated by experts in farming; we are excited to be on this journey! We are restoring the land, and bringing quality and wholesome food to the families in our local community. Our kids are learning so much along the way, as we help them learn as they go.

The world needs more good farmers.
